Peter Cornish, PhD, R. Psych.

Dr. Peter Cornish is a psychologist specializing in individual and couples therapy. He is a tenured associate professor in counselling at Memorial University in Newfoundland with cross appointments in the Psychology Department and the Faculty of Medicine. 

As a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan specializing in brief psychodynamic and interpersonal therapy, Dr. Cornish works with a broad spectrum of clients. Among his areas of expertise are depression, anxiety, personality disorders and gender issues.

In addition to being a prominent relationship therapist, Dr. Cornish has published in the areas of psychological empowerment, men and masculinity, group psychotherapy and interprofessional team building.  He has presented at National and International conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of interprofessional collaboration, group dynamics and gender issues as they relate to psychotherapy.

Dr. Cornish is an empowerment-oriented, emotion and relationship-focused therapist.  He provides support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.  He integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, he works with each individual to help build on strengths and attain personal growth.

Karen Gilleta, PhD, R.D. Psych.

Dr. Karen Gilleta is a psychologist who specializes in individual therapy. She has clinical experience working in a variety of settings including mental health clinics, inpatient hospital settings, university counselling centres, and correctional institutions. Dr. Gilleta is a former Assistant Professor at Memorial University's Counselling Centre.

As a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, she specializes in interpersonal, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy for adults presenting with a broad range of issues including trauma, mood disorders, eating disorders and personality disorders.

Dr. Gilleta provides both brief therapy and long-term depth psychotherapy, integrating evidenced-based techniques in a sensitive manner that fits with where clients are in the change process.
